Take control of your life
We’re here to help you thrive
You built a shield when you were young because you had to. The world wasn't safe, and that shield saved your life. But shields are heavy. And what protects you at eight can imprison you at forty.
THE SHIELD is about recognizing when your defense mechanisms, the hypervigilance, the emotional walls, the constant scanning for threats have stopped protecting you and started imprisoning you.
It's about the grocery store line where everything changed. The neuroscience that explained why. And the small, ordinary moments where transformation actually happens. This isn't a self-help book with ten easy steps. It's one person's honest journey from survival to healing and an invitation for you to walk yours.
Overcome your obstacles.

If you saw yourself in these patterns, THE SHIELD was written for you.
Not because I have all the answers. But because I've lived all the questions.
What our readers are saying
Shirley L.
"This book gave me language for patterns I've lived with for decades but couldn't name. The grocery store chapter alone was worth the price. I'm not broken, I'm adapted. That changed everything for me."
Molly S.
"I bought this for my partner who's been in therapy for years but couldn't quite articulate what he was working through. He texted me after the first chapter: 'This is me. How did he know?' It opened conversations we've been trying to have for years."
Maddie
"As a therapist, I've read countless books on trauma. THE SHIELD is the one I recommend to clients who need to see themselves in story, not just theory. Gabe's vulnerability is his credibility."

About the author
GABE was eight years old when he first had to work, going door to door selling the homemade pizzas his mother baked so they could help pay the bills. A year later, he survived a traumatic childhood abuse that could have silenced him for life. Instead, that wound became the raw material for his voice.
From those early streets to global boardrooms, GABE built an award-winning career in advertising, becoming a creative director and earning more than 150 international honors, including Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, One Show, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, SABRE Awards, among others. His work has always tried to do more than sell products, it tries to understand people, their pain, their hope, and their contradictions, their universal truths.
Outside the agency world, GABE created Ancestral Renaissance, a fine art photography project that reimagines classical artworks by placing Indigenous women at the center, giving visibility and dignity to voices long excluded from traditional art history.
This book is another chapter in that same journey: a man who refused to be defined by what happened to him, and who is still learning, every day, how to turn fear into honesty, fragility into strength, and personal scars into bridges for anyone who has ever felt broken but still wants to heal.
